In response to a 2012 solicitation, health care providers submitted more than 160 white papers to six members of the Senate Finance Committee, with the majority addressing the burden of audits. Suggestions called for changes to the audit process, including improving communication and changing auditor incentives, as well as boosting auditor education and simplifying documentation. The committee members said they will use the recommendations as they work with agency officials to create possible actions.
