Market trends in China are evolving quickly, and hoteliers in the country are repositioning their brands to keep up. Chua Tian Chu, deputy CEO of Meritus Hotels & Resorts, told an audience at the latest HVS China Hotel Investment Conference in Shanghai that hotels don't have to reposition themselves all at once. "Brand standards are not fixed. They’re evolving and a lot are depending on the market," he said. "You don’t have to do everything at once. We try to refresh the public areas often, but we do it in phases."
