Take trusted colleagues to lunch and ask them what you do well and where you could grow -- how they describe you can be revealing, she writes. Past performance reviews and recommendation letters are valuable, too. "[I]f you see multiple mentions of a particular skill set ('Lisa is a brilliant public speaker') or shortcoming ('Martin has a hard time accepting feedback'), you should take heed," Clark advises.
