Sometimes it's the little things that can improve your networking experience, like knowing how to give a great handshake and not feeling awkward when someone isn't friendly, experts say. "[I]f someone doesn't have the social graces to include you in the conversation, it means they're being rude. I've learned to see it as a reflection on them, not on myself, so I don't take it personally," says Sara Ittelson, director of business development at Knewton.
