British Airways is tapping into the public's seemingly unlimited appetite for videos of dogs and cats doing cute things by adding a channel called "Paws & Relax" to its Slow TV lineup. The airline is launching the programming in September because scientific research "proves watching images of cute animals can actually lower your heart rate and reduce stress levels," says Richard D'Cruze, IFE manager.
Thai Airways is making a substantial investment in its economy-class cabins by adding an upgraded in-flight entertainment system and individual TV screens for each seat. The move is under way with Thai's 20 long-haul Boeing 747-400s. "Retrofitting aircraft is a good investment with relatively low cost and offering good returns," said Thai Airways President Piyasvasti Amranand.
