An advisory committee of the Vermilion County, Ill., Board recommended against making any changes to the county's wind-energy ordinance, saying the county has little authority in increasing the setback for turbines from the current 1,200 feet, as some residents had requested. "The setback issue is the elephant in the room. But I don't see any evidence where we can set them back far enough to appease all of the issues that have been addressed," said John Alexander, who chaired the committee.
