Intel began shipping its next-generation Atom processors to OEMs for testing, with commercial availability expected in the second half of 2013. The high-performance chips, called Avoton, feature a new microarchitecture known as Silvermont and are constructed using advanced 22-nanometer processing. They will help power an emerging generation of low-power micro-servers.
