Iowa's farmers are keeping an eye out for the weather because while the impact of last year's dry spell was not as severe as feared, a second year of drought could be devastating, analysts said. The drought-induced spike in corn prices gave oil companies an excuse to call for the repeal of the Renewable Fuel Standard, said Monte Shaw, executive director of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association. "[Big Oil was] going after the RFS anyway, but the drought gave them another bullet to shoot at us," Shaw said.
