JX Nippon Oil & Energy, Japan's biggest oil refiner, will begin offering gasoline containing the ethanol-based additive ETBE at about 360 of its branded filling stations in northeast Japan on May 1, bringing the total number of its outlets that carry the fuel to about 3,200, the company said. The effort is driven by Japan's commitment under the Kyoto Protocol to slash greenhouse-gas emissions.
