Green Mountain Coffee Roasters’ newest Keurig machine is designed to brew a pot of coffee from a single pod. The reveal comes as the company struggles to maintain market share for its single-serve K-cups against private-label pods.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has announced the addition of the Keurig Vue V500 to its range of Vue single-cup brewing range. The V500 offers a smaller footprint and a cheaper price tag than other machines in the Vue line.
Riesbeck's Food Markets in Ohio is among retailers finding strong customer interest in single-cup coffee and the companion Keurig brewing machine, which retails for $119. "Younger shoppers like the convenience and variety of single-cup coffee," said the coffee buyer for Riesbeck's. The 11-store chain also stocks tea and hot chocolate that can be made in the machine.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has signed a deal to brew Swiss Miss cocoa from ConAgra in its one-cup Keurig machines. Green Mountain commands more than 80% of the single-cup machine market, and has signed on brands including Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts and Folgers.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters will invest more than $10 million in a new manufacturing and distribution facility in Knoxville, Tenn. The new facility will produce K-Cup portion packs for the Keurig single-cup brewing system.
