Multichannel TV executives should consider introducing a la carte subscriptions as a way to curb cord-cutting, Verizon Communications CEO Lowell McAdam suggested Tuesday in a speech at an industry event. "I think there's a pressure now from customers about why do I have to have 300 channels? ... This isn't a cause célébre for us, but I think it's an early warning that we should pay attention to," said McAdam, whose FiOS TV service can monitor subscribers' viewing patterns. Allowing customers to have greater choice in selecting their channels is a "win-win," McAdam said, because it would be simpler for consumers and for pay-TV operators.
