NASA will launch two new missions to study the sky and observe and measure sources of cosmic X-rays, projects that will debut in 2017 and that, at a total of $255 million, the space agency considers low-cost. The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite project will survey the sky to look for Earth-like planets, while the Neutron Star Interior Composition Explorer mission will be based on the space station and will seek out X-ray sources.
