The Farmington, N.M., City Council has eliminated a deficit-closing option presented by City Manager Rob Mayes that included a 0.25% tax increase and $2.1 million in cuts. The plan is one of three options Mayes presented to close a $6.5 million budget deficit. The other plans are $6.5 million in sweeping cuts and a combination of spending cuts and use of cash reserves.
