The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will carefully review the Tennessee Valley Authority's bid to extend the operating license of its Sequoyah nuclear plant for another 20 years, said Mark Yoo and Emmanuel Sayoc, the agency's project managers for the environmental impact statement. Their remarks were made during public meetings Wednesday about the license-extension bid. "I've been in the plant and underneath it. It is a magnificent facility, and I'm not concerned about it as a neighbor. Yes, it is an old design, but it's a proven design," said Hardy Stulce, former mayor of nearby Soddy-Daisy.
