Scientists say they have detected thousands of particles that appear to be debris from dark matter particle collisions, suggesting that the mysterious stuff may exist throughout the universe. The conclusions were part of an announcement this week from the first findings using the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer aboard the International Space Station, a $2 billion project designed to detect cosmic rays. One scientist working with the AMS says more work needs to be done to identify the particles with complete certainty, but will happen "hopefully, quickly."
