MLBAM, the digital arm of Major League Baseball, has named Qualcomm as a partner in a venture aimed at upgrading wireless networks at 30 U.S. ballparks over the next two years. The companies predict that demand for wireless data at stadiums will increase by a factor of 1,000 in the coming years. Qualcomm will oversee an effort to build access to Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G networks aimed at assisting fans and teams.
