A new type of internal-combustion engine that achieves fuel savings and lower emissions is getting a production boost in China, where a $200 million factory is planned by Zhongding Power to build the "opposed piston, opposed cylinder" engine developed by Detroit startup EcoMotors. The design combines four pistons and two cylinders, greatly increasing efficiency and power while reducing parts and affording the option of running on a variety of fuels.
