Good leadership and effective negotiation starts with simply being kind and respectful to those around you -- even your driver or the woman who does your laundry, says longtime sports agent and consultant Ron Shapiro. Only by generating trust, loyalty and mutual respect can bosses hope to inspire their workers or find win-win solutions to tough negotiations, say Shapiro and his son, baseball executive Mark. "All of life is that kind of negotiation, where respecting everyone and knowing what they want will get you what you want, too, in the end," Ron says.
