The U.S. Energy Information Administration has released its annual data on alternative fuel vehicles for 2011, reporting strong consumer support for alternative fuels. The figures show a year-over-year increase of 13% in the use of alternative transportation fuels -- among which natural gas, ethanol and propane autogas took the top three spots. Natural gas vehicles totaled about 120,000 in number, while medium- to heavy-duty propane autogas vehicles were up to roughly 63,000.
