New technology and higher costs overseas will drive a resurgence of manufacturing in the UK in the coming years, fueling the creation of 100,000 to 200,000 new manufacturing jobs in the next 10 years, according to a study by the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. "Based on 2011 trade figures this would amount to an expansion of approximately £30bn in domestic production paralleled by a similar change in the trade deficit," the report said.
