ResCare Iowa, a subsidiary of Kentucky-based ResCare, has agreed to a $5.6 million settlement to resolve accusations of falsely billing Medicare and Medicaid. ResCare Iowa was accused of submitting claims to Medicare and Medicaid without documentation of required in-person physician assessments of each beneficiary or certification that the home health care services were medically necessary. No liability was determined in the case.
The combined pension deficit of companies in the Standard & Poor's 1,500 index fell to $372 billion in March, according to Mercer. The total marks a $185 billion drop from a record $557 billion at year-end. Stock market gains last month contributed heavily to the improvement.
