The worldwide market for semiconductor materials declined by 2% in 2012 to $47.11 billion, compared with 2011's $47.84 billion, according to Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International. Global revenue for semiconductors dropped 3% last year, SEMI noted. The organization also reported that revenue for semiconductor packaging materials last year outpaced that for wafer fabrication materials for the first time.
