A hold has been placed on the nomination of Marilyn Tavenner to head the CMS by Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Harkin said he would hold up Tavenner's confirmation vote over the use of money from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's Prevention and Public Health Fund to finance other aspects of the law's implementation. On Tuesday, Tavenner's nomination was approved in a voice vote by the Senate Finance Committee.
