Progress in the construction of the San Francisco 49ers' $1.2 billion stadium can be seen in this slide show. Turner Construction and Devcon Construction have completed 40% of the project in Santa Clara, Calif., since it broke ground a year ago. So far, $368.6 million has been spent -- $100 million of that on concrete and steel alone. "For better or worse, [the costs are] typical," said Skip Sauer, president of the North American Association of Sports Economists. "The modern stadium is a luxury palace relative to the stadiums of 25 to 30 years ago."
