SoftBank has given Sprint Nextel permission to talk with DISH Network about its $25.5 billion takeover bid, which rivals the Japanese carrier's own $20.1 billion offer for 70% control. The SoftBank waiver does not allow direct negotiations with DISH, but will let Sprint obtain more data on the bid. Sprint has set a tentative date of June 12 for shareholders to vote on the SoftBank deal. Separately, DISH's attempt to buy Clearwire got a boost last week when hedge fund Aurelius Capital sued Sprint and Clearwire to stop Sprint from buying out the wireless provider.
