Japan's Softbank expects its buyout of Sprint Nextel to be completed by July 1, despite a rival $25.5 billion bid from DISH Network, a bid now endorsed by billionaire John Paulson and investor Omega Advisors. Softbank was first out of the gate with its $20.1 billion offer to buy 70% of the third-largest U.S. carrier. If the deal ends up falling through, Softbank says it will still reap about $4 billion in profits because of how the deal is structured.
