Losses in March were high for the property/casualty insurance industry, totaling about $150 million from a severe-weather system that hit the Eastern U.S., according to Aon Benfield. The storms produced hail that damaged state-owned and private facilities in Mississippi, according to reports. The industry, however, has weathered losses from the first quarter's prolonged winter conditions, said Steve Jakubowski of Aon Benfield's Impact Forecasting.
