A hydrogen fuel cell and a 70-pound carbon-fiber chassis are responsible for what University of Illinois students claim is a two-seat car that can get up to 100 miles per gallon. The car is entered in a competition sponsored by Shell that includes a test run through the streets of Houston to verify performance. The design of the vehicle "went for real-world feasibility," said Sanat Bhole, a senior in mechanical engineering.
