PET imaging has yet to reach its potential in health care, writes Health Imaging editor Lisa Fratt. Inherent variation in PET data makes it difficult to compare patient responses, but she notes the PET Response Criteria in Solid Tumors, discussed in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, may help. Another recent JNM study highlighted challenges in reporting, finding that important data such as patient medication history and trace injection time was not included in more than 40% of PET reports.
