A study of 64 people who drank the average daily amount of low-fat milk sweetened with either sucrose or high-fructose corn syrup for 10 weeks did not develop increased fat in the liver. Such fat is a leading cause of nonalcoholic liver disease and can contribute to type 2 diabetes. The study was published in the journal Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism.
