Researchers looked at the 2005 to 2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, involving 4,673 12- to 19-year-olds, and found that none of them met all seven ideal standards for cardiovascular health. Females were less likely to meet ideal scores for total cholesterol and physical activity, and males were less likely to achieve optimal fasting glucose levels. The findings were published in the journal Circulation.
