Automated bots are flooding Twitter and Facebook with scammy and spammy messages, a security researcher says, with some earning huge profits on their fraudulent campaigns. The bogus, bot-created accounts don't stay up long, but many users are willing to click the shortened links that appear in their streams. "Social media is a good environment for convincing people to click on something that they shouldn't," says Wade Williamson, a senior security analyst with Palo Alto Networks.
