The 802.11ac wireless standard is designed to triple current speeds of Wi-Fi connections of 32 megabits per second, but broadband providers first must play catch-up. Currently, fixed Internet connections can only deliver 1/40th of that speed, according to Akamai Technologies. Cisco Systems is expected to have business-class networking products using the 802.11ac standard available later this year.
