Ohio State University researchers have developed a tracer that binds to lesions in the brain bearing tau protein, which is associated with the progression of Alzheimer's disease. The agent could aid in earlier detection of Alzheimer's and a better understanding of how the substance accumulates, paving the way for treatment, researchers said. Tau buildup is also linked to other forms of dementia and traumatic brain injury.
