Internet-based telemedicine is making a comeback as a way to reduce costs and improve access to care, through companies such as Zipnosis and Virtuwell, both out of Minnesota. The sites use nonphysician clinicians, such as nurse practitioners, and offer only basic services. "I want to use my time for more serious challenges and let someone else take care of the other stuff," said family physician Patrick Courneya, M.D., of Health Partners, which started Virtuwell.
