Different disciplines in science, technology, engineering and math are seeing varying rates of progress among women pursuing advanced degrees, with men still dominating most fields, especially in engineering. However, the number of female professors in STEM fields has slowly been going up. "It seems like many of the indicators are pointing toward parity, but at different scales and different rates," said science education professor Adam V. Maltese of Indiana University Bloomington. "That's not going to happen overnight, not in the next decade and maybe not for the next 20 or 25 years."
