The Canadian government, through the National Research Council of Canada, signed a three-year deal with Canadian Natural Resources and Pond Biofuels to construct a $19 million biofuel facility in Alberta, Canada. The plant will use algae to convert oil sands greenhouse-gas emissions into biofuels. Canada will give $9.5 million for the project, and the two firms will shoulder the remainder.
