Freight carload traffic of U.S. railroads dropped 2.6% in the week ending April 27 versus the year-ago level, but intermodal gained 2% in the same period, according to the Association of American Railroads. North American intermodal volume climbed 3.3% in this year's first 17 weeks compared to the same time in 2012, AAR said. Shipments of trailers and containers containing petroleum products was about 240,000 in April, AAR said.
