The Environmental Protection Agency needs to be more consistent with its definition for endocrine disruptor, according to the American Chemistry Council. The definition used for Tier I and II testing in the Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program is not used across the board, ACC said, noting the EPA's Office of Research and Development differs in its definition by not specifying these compounds cause adverse events. A definition that "does not include both the requirement for the direct interaction with the endocrine system and adverse effects is irrational," ACC added.
