AOL is requiring all its sales reps to pass the IAB's test for Digital Media Sales Certification, the first large corporate endorsement of the program. Marta Martinez, AOL's head of sales strategy and operations, says sales certification keeps the company "ahead of the curve." "It is something that agencies are starting to ask for, and it is a way for companies to show that they want to help standardize and professionalize the industry," says Michael Theodore, vice president of training and development at IAB, which has issued some 600 certifications so far.
