By fall, the Army will decide whether to extend the life of its Bell OH-58D/F Kiowa Warrior helicopter or create a new development program for its Armed Aerial Scout requirement. Lt. Gen. William Phillips, principal military deputy for acquisition, says the Army couldn't find an off-the-shelf aircraft that met its needs. The Army will decide in late summer or early fall whether to extend the Kiowa or go for a new development.
