Big Data analytics software can be useful in identifying and plugging data breaches, Hewlett-Packard's Art Gilliland says, but companies need to focus on different areas of a breach, not just the attack itself. "You need to think about each of the stages of that breach as a place where you need to build your defenses. The area where I think we have most promise in the short term is in finding the adversary after they've broken in but before they've stolen data," Gilliland says.
