CDC researchers spoke with almost 77,000 adults between 2008 and 2010 and found that many continued to make lifestyle choices that raised their risk of heart disease and chronic disease. Data showed about 6 in 10 were overweight or obese, and fewer than half met guidelines for aerobic physical activity. "We're hopeful that if we continue to invest in community-based prevention, if we promote healthy eating and active living, these rates will begin to decrease," said Rich Hamburg of the Trust for America's Health.
