Identifying potential hazards and the barriers to protect against them will be the focus of offshore safety audits, said Charlie Williams, director of the Center for Offshore Safety. The audits are based on post-2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill Safety and Environmental Management Systems. "Where we have to be is that the workers that are responsible for certain hazards know they are responsible and what they are responsible in terms of ensuring that those barriers are maintained," Williams said.
