Tissue grafts and stem cell therapy helped prevent the amputation of a 49-year-old man's foot after a cut became infected with necrotizing fasciitis. After other interventions failed, podiatrist Spence Misner treated the wound with tissue grafts embedded with human stem cells. After repeated applications of the tissue, donated by Osiris Therapeutics, ligament, muscle, fat and skin regrew. Misner and patient Bobby Ross tell the story that began in 2011 with a cut caused by a piece of glass.
