The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Wednesday unanimously voted in favor of a measure that would give the FDA greater authority over drug compounders. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, is pushing for a full Senate vote on the bill. "Congress must take action to improve the safety of compounded drugs and prevent the next public health crisis, and this is exactly what our legislation would do," Harkin said in a statement. The committee also voted to combine the Pharmaceutical Compounding Quality and Accountability Act and the Drug Supply Chain Security Act.
