Ethanol production capacity in the U.S. stood at 903,000 barrels per day on Jan. 1, up from 896,000 a year earlier, according to a report by the Energy Information Administration. In the Midwest, nameplate production capacity was 822,000 barrels per day, compared with 815,000 a year earlier. The U.S. had 193 ethanol plants as of Jan. 1, compared with 194 a year earlier, the EIA said.
