The Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action is launching a text-messaging program in South Africa that sends informational texts on pregnancy, birthing and child care to expectant mothers. The program has met with success in Bangladesh, with India next.
United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay appealed to the international community to find a political solution to the Syrian conflict. The recent attack in Baniyas by pro-government militias should be investigated by the International Criminal Court, Pillay said.
