The engineering manager in charge of Facebook's all-night hackathons thinks mobile development would be served by kicking back a little and extending the event to encourage constructing better prototypes that couldn't be completed under the previous setup. "With the more flexible structure, Facebook wants to encourage more employees to take a break from their day-to-day work and get involved in coding," Zach Miners writes. And the focus last year and this year has been on mobile, Miners writes. "There is a lot of focus now on mobile, without the same flexibility as the Web," Facebook's Pedram Keyani said. "We're just adapting."
