Hollywood movie studios are turning to devoted fans to get the word out about films by holding fan events such as a question-and-answer session in Las Vegas for Disney's "The Lone Ranger." The event had the film's stars, Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, fielding queries submitted by fans across the globe. The approach rewards loyal fans and bypasses the traditional method of staging press junkets, studio executives say. "There are no better ambassadors. ... Movies are such a viral thing," said Sony's co-president of worldwide marketing, Marc Weinstock.
